What Are Full-Arch Dental Implants?
Full-arch dental implants are an advanced and effective solution for individuals who have lost multiple teeth or need complete arch replacement. Instead of using individual implants for each missing tooth, the full-arch procedure utilizes 4-6 strategically placed implants to support an entire arch of prosthetic teeth. This approach offers stability, functionality, and a natural appearance, making it an excellent choice for restoring your smile.
Benefits of Full-Arch Dental Implants
- Minimally Invasive: The procedure is less invasive than traditional methods, often eliminating the need for bone grafting and sinus lifts.
- Immediate Function: Specially designed implants allow for immediate function, so you can leave the office with a fixed denture on the same day.
- Natural Appearance: Full-arch implants look and feel like natural teeth, enhancing your smile's aesthetics.
- Cost-Effective: Compared to conventional methods that require more implants and longer treatment times, full-arch implants are more affordable.
- Shorter Treatment Time: Reduced healing times mean you can regain your smile and function faster.
- Secure Fit: Unlike removable dentures, full-arch implants are securely anchored, providing a stable foundation for prosthetic teeth.
The Full-Arch Dental Implant Procedure
- Consultation and Planning: Your journey begins with a comprehensive consultation at North Haven Dentists. We will assess your oral health, take necessary scans and x-rays, and develop a personalized treatment plan tailored to your needs. Learn more about our consultation process.
- Implant Placement: During the outpatient procedure, 4-6 titanium implants are strategically placed into your jawbone. These implants serve as a solid foundation for your new teeth. Most patients opt for sedation in addition to local anesthesia to ensure comfort during the procedure. For more details, visit our[Dental Implants](/services/dental-implants) page.
- Temporary Fixed Denture: Before leaving our office, you will be fitted with a fixed complete denture. This temporary solution will allow you to function and smile confidently while your implants integrate with the bone.
- Healing Period: Over the next few months, the implants will integrate with your jawbone in a process called osseointegration. This provides a stable base for your permanent teeth.
- Permanent Teeth Placement: After osseointegration, you will return to our office to receive your final set of custom-made prosthetic teeth. These are attached to the abutments, completing your full-arch restoration. Check out our [Implant Treatment Timeline](/services/dental-implants/implant- treatment-timeline) for more information.

If your credit score is average or even slightly below, we can help you apply online with a third-party financing company, and you’ll receive an instant decision in most cases. This pre-qualifying approach is a “soft” credit check. Some patients tap a friend, family member, or spouse to co-sign with them for financing if they don’t qualify. Other alternative options may also be available to you.
** What is a fixed provisional, and how is that different from the final prosthesis?Provisional teeth are made of hard industrial plastic. They look, feel, and function like natural teeth. On the day of surgery, your provisional teeth are placed on top of the implants and remain in place for 2-4 months, allowing the appropriate amount of time for your jaw bone to adhere to the implants. After your bone securely heals to the implants, you will then receive your final lifetime teeth, usually made of zirconia, Prettau®, or other high-quality material.
